Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a gir Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a girl that had some pigs. When she found out that she had to move away, she sent them off to live at the local animal retirement home (otherwise known as Fertile Valley Farm) where they lived, happily, ever after❤️. Moving most of our dogs from coast to coast was an Moving most of our dogs from coast to coast was an absolute crap show, even though I’d say that it could have gone a lot worse. The truth was that having only four of the dogs and three of the cats with us was actually a break from the regular scene we have going on (@finn_mac803 literally trucked our rabbit, Guinea pigs, tortoise and hamster across the country in our SUV). But. We. Did. It. ✌️ And B.C.? Totally worth it. ❤️ #travellingwithpets #dogs #dogowners #catstagram #movingwithpets

Happy Birthday Juno GIRL! We just landed in BC, Happy Birthday Juno GIRL! We just landed in BC, so it’s been a WILD month or so. But we’re here, a little bit mussed and maybe retaining a wee bit of water, with bits of our hearts scattered everywhere. Juno girl came to us when I wasn’t quite ready for another pup. But she was meant to be here, in this crazy herd. At the time, she was drugged up to keep her calm, deemed a vicious biter, set for euthanasia at 10 weeks old. But thanks to @bricaresadoption and @h.v.ormstown, she made her anxious way to us. And she’s turned from a pup to a velociraptor to a cuddle bug in under a year-without drugs and minimal intervention❤️. She also rocked a 5.5 hour plane ride without sedation and came out rested and ready to party on the other side. On another note…I’m going to share our journey with the dogs and cats across the country soon…big thanks to @mshewchuk for watching Jolene and Stoik until we go back to bring them across….and to @finn_mac803 for driving every other possession and creature we care for across the entire country. We’re in a rental until our new place is purchased, so it’s…busy. #adoptdogs #malnois #malnoismix #rescuedogs #birthdaygirl #dogbirthday

I don’t know anything for sure. I mess up all t I don’t know anything for sure. I mess up all the time. I love everything too much. Other people’s emotions run through me like a waterfall, bringing me to my knees more than I like to admit. But if I get to call all these humans around me family, I’d say that somewhere along the way I must have done something right. Moving towards what matters. I think it’s really Moving towards what matters. I think it’s really easy to get comfortable where you are, especially if nothing is happening. “Nothing” is normal. “Nothing” is safe. “Nothing” is beautiful. Honestly, I love the heck out of normal nothings. But I’ve noticed that my comfort zone has gotten too familiar, despite the little that it offers our family right now. I can see that my children need different things, things that might be outside of where I like to hang my hat. And really, getting out of my comfort zone is what led us to Old Wood Hollow in the first place. So here’s to having the courage to change the course of a lifetime, friends. At least one more time ✨❤️. #change #wordstoliveby #morningwords #fieldsofflowers

Honestly, I love the heck out of normal nothings. But I’ve noticed that my comfort zone has gotten too familiar, despite the little that it offers our family right now. I can see that my children need different things, things that might be outside of where I like to hang my hat. And really, getting out of my comfort zone is what led us to Old Wood Hollow in the first place.

So here’s to having the courage to change the course of a lifetime, friends. At least one more time ✨❤️.

You’ll never be able to convince me that city li You’ll never be able to convince me that city living is better than this life. It’s a little harder, sure. You’ve got to sort out your lane way in the winter and manage the ever changing natural landscape around you. Most likely wrangle an animal or two. There’s less takeout available. But being put in your place by the size of a tree or the power of a rainstorm is humbling. It reminds you that you’re just a tiny part of this huge beautiful world. That you should tread lightly and purposefully. That the skills worth learning fall into the realm of patience and acceptance. They might not know it yet, but these children are learning these things too. And they’ll likely head to the city when they’re older and hopefully make fewer mistakes than I did. But I wonder if the calm will call them back. Here’s hoping. . . . #countrykids #animalcare #compassion #wideopenspaces #learningtobealive
